In this video, Dr. Sunil Gupta, Additional Director, NCDC, will explain how a doctor can prevent antimicrobial resistance in this video. He will explain that doctor has a very important role in prevention of AMR. The doctors can prevent AMR by prescribing antibiotics rationally. Antibiotics should be given only when it is needed. For example, in a person with simple sore throat, there is no need to start antibiotics immediately. The patient should be treated with symptomatic treatment. In other ailments such as urinary tract infections, no need to start high antibiotics. Dr. Sunil will also talk on how long the antibiotic dosage should be given to avoid misuse and resistance.
