In this video, Dr. Sunil Gupta, Additional Director, NCDC, will discuss whether antimicrobial resistance is a public health emergency or no. He will inform that as per the recent data, antimicrobial resistance is a public health emergency which needs to be tackled. Dr. Sunil will explain how this resistance occurs. Antimicrobial resistance is a natural phenomenon. There is a tendency for the microbes to mutate and this genetic mutation develops antimicrobial resistance. He will also focus on the factors which cause amplification of these antimicrobial resistance in human, veterinary sectors and environment.
