We still lack knowledge about the impact of Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) infection on female fertility since the level of evidence associating these factors is weak. Hence, a recent review better elucidated this matter.
The study's authors searched the electronic database like Medline/PubMed for relevant studies in the previous five years. It searched for keywords like chlamydia trachomatis AND infertility; chlamydia trachomatis AND tubal alteration AND infertility; chlamydia AND low pregnancy rates.
Thus there exists an important association between CT infection and female infertility. Therefore CT screening as a part of the infertility investigation routine is relevant and has a reasonable justification.
