False negative test results pose serious concerns in a prenatal setting as it can cause the birth of an affected child.
A study published in Diagnostics discusses basic differences between screening and diagnosis, the choices and the consequences. The paper also highlighted the crucial points to be addressed by clinicians to provide quality care, such that patients are aware of and understand the scientific and sociological contexts of false negative and false positive tests.
Thereby, clinicians can offer appropriate counseling to patients. Screening tests must not be confused for diagnostic investigations; this can confer negative impacts to the overall obstetric practice.
