In this video, Dr. Sunil Gupta, Additional Director, NCDC, will discuss the reasons for the increasing rates of AMR. There is an increase in the rates of antimicrobial resistance in India as well as rest of the world. The main reason for this is the overuse of antimicrobials both in human and veterinary sectors. Antibiotics too are used very carelessly and it is aggravated by the poor control of infections in the hospital set-ups and the community.
