What is Age related macular Degeneration?

In this video, Dr. Manisha Agarwal, Vitreo-retina surgeon, Dr. Shroffs Charity Hospital, New Delhi, will talk on age related macular degeneration. She will discuss how to identify age related macular degeneration. It generally happens in patients who are above 50 years. Initially they might have a reading problem as it affects the central retina. It can be managed by giving various injections in eyes. They can be given as often as required for the first three months and then repeat according to the condition of the eye. Dr. Manisha will talk about the other method of treating age related macular degeneration is by special laser therapy which is also called as the photodynamic therapy. Hence, the earlier the detection of this disease, it becomes easier to manage also.
