What is Amblyopia or Lazy Eye?

The video talks about the lazy eye or amblyopia by Dr. Suma Ganesh, Head of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Dr. Shroffs Charity Eye Hospital, New Delhi. Amblyopia means the child cannot see clearly with one eye. It is the defect in the coordination of the brain and the eye. Dr. Suma will discuss the causes of amblyopia. One of the reason is the glasses. If there is a number in one eye or there is a difference in both the eyes, the eye which is having a higher number may become a lazy eye which is called an amblyopia. The lazy eye needs to be treated before the age of 8 years. She will also discuss the other causes which include strabismus or squint and how it affects the one eye vision.
