In this video, Dr. Ramneek Mahajan, Director - Orthopedics & Joint Replacement, Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi, will talk about patellar knee replacement. He discusses that literature reports that some people complain of anterior knee pain. Many of the surgeons have started replacing the patella with the patella button hoping that the anterior knee pain would get better. But it has been reported that anterior knee pain continues even after patella replacement. Dr. Mahajan further says that if the patella is healthy then there is no need to resurface it. If the patella cartilage is eroded then a patella replacement is done. He also states that the replacement of patella also depends upon the thickness of patella.
