In this video, Dr. Ramneek Mahajan, Director - Orthopedics & Joint Replacement, Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi, discusses the link of obesity with osteoarthritis. Dr. Mahajan explains that weight plays an essential role in osteoarthritis. He further states that the amount of weight which is been transferred to that particular joint leads to the loading of the joint. If loading of the joint is more than its capacity then wear and tear of that joint happens. Hence, obese people suffer osteoarthritis at an early age as compared to the rest of the population.

Worked extensively in Primary Hip, Knee and Revision Joint Replacement. Took up the public position as Head of Orthopaedics at the Nova Specialty Hospital, Kailash Colony from 2010 to 2014. Visiting Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Fortis Hospital from 2009 to 2014.
