In this video, Dr. Ramneek Mahajan, Director - Orthopedics & Joint Replacement, Max Smart Super Specialty Hospital, New Delhi, discusses the link of obesity with osteoarthritis. Dr. Mahajan explains that weight plays an essential role in osteoarthritis. He further states that the amount of weight which is been transferred to that particular joint leads to the loading of the joint. If loading of the joint is more than its capacity then wear and tear of that joint happens. Hence, obese people suffer osteoarthritis at an early age as compared to the rest of the population.
