In this video, Dr. Suman Kirti, Endocrinologist, Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi will talk about the aggressive management of hypertension in all cases of diabetes and why it is needed. She will discuss about various large trials done in which there was a consistent finding stating that lower the blood pressure, lower will be the risk of microvascular disease. It is not only the glycemia which needs treatment but hypertension which is the most important risk factor. The results of the studies showed that the group in which hypertension was well controlled had reduced nephropathy. Thus the evidences shows that the lower the BP, it is better. Blood pressure of 120/80 mmHg is considered normal to prevent diabetic complications.
